Accident and Sickness Insurance
If you suffer from an accident or miss work due to being ill, a personal accident and sickness insurance policy (PAS) could help you reclaim lost expenses and funds.

Another benefit of PAS is that it can often be added as a bolt-on policy to your household, motor, travel or commercial insurance. Stand alone policies for individuals, business owners and their employees are also available.
There area number of different policies available, each with different benefits. An experienced member of our team will be more than happy to go through the types of cover available to you. In the meantime, here are some of the main benefits you’ll be covered for under a accident and sickness insurance policy:
- Death
- Permanent disablement
- Loss of a leg, foot or toe
- Loss of an arm, hand, finger or thumb
- Other specified injuries or accidents
Adequate cover means you’ll also be covered for medical expenses if you are injured in an accident. Your expenses will be refunded up to a specified percentage after suffering the accident.
If you’re unable to work due to illness or an accident, you’ll also be paid weekly sickness benefit. There is usually a short deferred period where no benefit will be payable. From then on there will be a maximum number of weeks for when benefit is payable, i.e. 26, 52 or 104 weeks.
Weekly sickness benefit is usually a fixed sum not related to earnings. Some policies will extend to your spouse or children (up to the age of 16 or 18), although this may be restricted to accident cover only.
